Element ELCC 6.2 and 6.3 require that leaders act to influence decisions at every level affecting student learning and to anticipate and assess emerging trends and initiatives to be adaptable.
Rationale: West40 Instructional Coaches County-Wide Meeting is an example of how an educational leader responsible for instruction can be effective in decision making. Meeting with the innovation leaders that are driving instruction in the county helps leaders keep up with emerging trends in instruction. During West40 Meetings they discuss laws and how they impact teaching and learning and prepare to help teachers navigate the new territory. They also discuss the hard issues like equity and inclusion to issues on how to run an impactful and informative tech night. |

Reflection of Professional Development Session exhibits this standard by demonstrating how North Elementary School anticipates and assesses emerging trends and initiatives in order to adapt school-based leadership strategies. With the addition of instructional coaches as co-instructional leaders with the principal and mentors for new teachers, this strategy allows for immediate reaction to post-pandemic trends. |

Identifying and Empowering Instructional Leaders exhibits ELCC 6.3 by demonstrating how I would act as the educational leader in the provided case study. This scenario puts me in the position of being a first-year principal and how I would go about forming a leadership team. Developing protocols, criteria, and expectations for each position creates a culture that encourages teachers to take on these defined leadership roles. |
